A Community Rally On Rochester’s Future
Rochester community leader and President of the Rochester Branch of the NAACP, Dr. Walé Elegbede, is inviting the community to attend a special event this Thursday evening at Rochester City Hall focused on hope, unity, and the future of Rochester.
The event will bring together residents, community leaders, young people, faith leaders, business leaders, and neighbors from across Rochester for an inspiring evening centered on what is possible when communities come together with shared purpose, vision, and responsibility.
For more than a decade, Walé has dedicated his leadership to building bridges, empowering people, and helping communities move forward together. As President of the Rochester Branch of the NAACP, he has helped build one of the most active civil rights organizations in Minnesota while working collaboratively across sectors to create meaningful impact throughout the community. Over the course of his more than 20 years of experience as a healthcare, business, and community leader, he has led more than $100M in large-scale innovation and strategic transformation initiatives focused on strengthening organizations, empowering teams, improving communities, and delivering meaningful results.

About Dr. Walé Elegbede
Walé Elegbede, EdD, MBA, PMP is a community leader, healthcare director, and business owner who has been an active member of the Rochester, Minnesota community for a decade. He currently serves as President of the Rochester Branch of the NAACP and has been involved in initiatives focused on strengthening the community, including advancing social justice, supporting small business growth, improving educational outcomes, promoting public safety and human dignity, and improving community health outcomes.
Known for his strong commitment to people, social justice, and strategic vision, Dr. Elegbede is widely recognized as a trusted voice, strategic thinker, and bridge-builder who brings people together across communities, institutions, and sectors to create opportunities for all.
He co-founded the RISE for Youth Program, a collaboration between Mayo Clinic and the Rochester Branch of the NAACP that helps students transform themselves from youth with potential into competitive and empowered talent entering the workforce.
Professionally, Elegbede serves as Director of Strategy Management Services at Mayo Clinic and holds a Doctorate in Ethical Leadership. He also developed the TEACH Framework, a leadership model centered on trust, empathy, accountability, cultural awareness, and honest communication. His leadership has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Rada Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse (2019) for his professional distinction and humanitarian impact in healthcare and community advancement, the Foreman Award from Ashley Furniture Industries (2015) for leading a successful omni-channel business platform launch, and the Mayo Clinic DLMP Innovation and Leadership in Education (2024) Award for exceptional contributions to educational innovation. He previously served on the Governor’s Community Resiliency Advisory Committee, contributing to statewide public health and collaboration strategies.
A nationally and internationally recognized TED Talk speaker, Elegbede has more than 20 years of leadership experience across civic organizations, healthcare, business, higher education, retail, consulting, and manufacturing environments. An innovator, earlier in his career, he developed a business system referenced in the Inc. 5000 that helped increase operational efficiency during a company’s growth to 84.3% and a $30.3 million increase in sales.
He is happily married and the proud father of three children
